Indigenous Tourism Alberta showcases thriving sector at international media marketplace
NEW YORK, NY — Indigenous Tourism Alberta (ITA) recently concluded a successful mission at the 2026 International Media Marketplace (IMM) North America in New York City, connecting with leading travel journalists to share the vibrant stories of Alberta’s Indigenous Peoples. With a goal of showcasing the authentic and compelling stories of Indigenous tourism entrepreneurs in Alberta to travel journalists, ITA showcased how traditional practices and contemporary culture can work together to create deep and meaningful travel experiences.
As global demand for authentic experiences grows, ITA highlighted several key pillars of the province’s Indigenous tourism landscape, ranging from elevated wellness and spa experiences, stargazing opportunities for international travellers, culinary experiences and the leading role of female entrepreneurs in the sector.
Meeting with international journalists is part of an ongoing strategy to bring the stories of Indigenous tourism in Alberta to the world through media and content creators. In the past few years, this has resulted in impressive coverage from major publications including Conde Nast Traveller, Afar, National Geographic and more.
