Request for Proposal Legal Services for Indigenous Tourism Alberta

Indigenous Tourism Alberta (ITA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing and promoting authentic, sustainable, and culturally rich Indigenous tourism experiences within Alberta. ITA aims to share the unique Indigenous culture, traditions, and heritage of Alberta’s Indigenous communities with visitors from around the world.

Objective
ITA is seeking proposals from experienced and reputable law firms or legal professionals to provide comprehensive legal services and advice to support the organization in its operations, development, and growth.

Scope of Services
The selected legal provider will be responsible for offering a broad range of legal services which may include, but are not limited to:

  • General legal counsel and advice on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
  • Intellectual property protection and licensing.
  • Employment law guidance.
  • Assistance with regulatory compliance and government relations.
  • Any other legal matters relevant to the operations and growth of ITA.

Proposal Submission

Interested law firms or legal professionals are invited to submit their proposals addressing the following:

  • Overview of the firm/individual and relevant experience working with non-profit organizations or in Indigenous law.
  • Description of proposed approach and strategies to meet ITA’s legal needs.
  • Proposed fee structure and any additional costs or expenses.
  • Three professional references.

Timeline

  • RFP Issuance Date: March 29, 2024
  • Proposal Submission Deadline: April 12 2024
  • Evaluation of Proposals: April 15 – April 26, 2024
  • Contract Award: April 29, 2024
  • Contract Start Date: May 1, 2024

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Experience and expertise in providing legal services to non-profit organizations and/or in Indigenous law.
  • Suitability of proposed approach and strategies.
  • Cost-effectiveness of proposed fee structure.
  • Professional references and track record.

Important Notes

ITA reserves the right to reject any or all proposals received.

All information provided in response to this RFP will be treated as confidential.

The selected legal provider will be required to enter into a formal agreement outlining the terms and conditions of the engagement.
