Black Elk Arts is an Indigenous business located on the Blood Reserve. They welcome visitors from all backgrounds to their traditional lands. They are part of four bands of Blackfoot. They offer lapidary and silversmith short courses and tours to their studio and to purchase authentic made jewelry or local arts and crafts from a few select artisans Experience authentic Indigenous culture as expressed in the evolution of jewelry decorum and you can create your own piece of jewelry using Alberta’s official gemstone ammolite in your creation. There is also an opportunity for tours into isolated unique and beautiful areas of the Blood Reserve which includes the ammonite mines or the surrounding areas. There is ample parking for those wishing to take a 1 to 5-day lapidary and metalsmithing course. There is the opportunity for overnight stays in a tipi or a wall tent, advance booking is required. Hours are from 9 AM to 4 PM Wednesday to Saturday with flexibility for other days.
